Ottawa, a great place to live, a great place to visit...

Want to know where to camp while visiting the nation's capital?  Here are some ideas that might help you decide.  There are others that I haven't mentioned here but these would be my picks.

  • The Ottawa Municipal Campground is 15 minutes from downtown via the 417 (Queensway).  Very nice park.  Needs a pool.  Some sites are narrow, but most loops are well treed and even tho the 417 is close you can't hear it in most loops.  Here are a bunch of pix I took! This would be my first choice for a nice campground and very close to downtown.

  • Rideau River Provincial Park is 30 minutes south on highway 416.  Provincial park quality, swimming in the Rideau River.  Not a lot to do.  The driving is all on four-lane + road (416, 417 to downtown) but the drive might get to be a bit long if going back and forth a lot.

  • Fitzroy Provincial Park is 45 minutes east on the 417 (Queensway).  A very nice provincial park but I think it's a bit far if you want to make repeated trips into Ottawa.
